Nad 8 (East) occurrence is located on a small hill in the southern headwaters of West Nadila Creek, approximately 3.8 kilometres northwest of Nadila Lake and at an elevation of approximately 2280 metres.
The area is primarily underlain by clastic sedimentary rocks of the Lower Cretaceous Taylor Creek Group and volcaniclastic rocks of the Upper Cretaceous Powell Creek Formation, which are cut by irregularly shaped dikes and stock-like bodies of Cretaceous to Tertiary hornblende feldspar porphyry. Well-hornfelsed and fractured lithologies include dark-grey argillaceous siltstone, brownish greywacke and chert-volcanic pebble conglomerate. These are capped by basaltic volcanic rocks of the Miocene to Pleistocene Chilcotin Group to the north and south.
Locally, a series of northeast-trending, poorly exposed quartz veins are exposed as sub-crop and boulder trains in at least four or five areas referred to as the East, West, Stibnite, Spur and Legal zones. The veins, as seen in sub-crop boulder trains, vary from 20 to 50 centimetres in width and are hosted in a zone of hornfelsed sediments and feldspar porphyry intrusions. The veins consist of vuggy, banded quartz vein material with minor fine-grained pyrite, coarse stibnite, lesser arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, molybdenite and trace cinnabar. Only the ‘East’ zone has been identified in outcrop.
In 1980, grab samples of vein material yielded up to 2.00 grams per tonne gold (Sample JDR-9; Assessment Report 8891). In 1988, samples from the eastern boulder train yielded up to 4.50 grams per tonne gold, 9.6 grams per tonne silver and 1.13 per cent lead (Sample R104, Assessment Report 18007). In 1989, a float sample (NAD-05) taken uphill to the northeast of the previous samples yielded 19.32 grams per tonne gold, 39.4 grams per tonne silver and 0.326 per cent molybdenum (Assessment Report 19319).
In 1990, a grab sample (RX-47216) of float yielded 3.87 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 20428). In 1991, a float sample (2903) from the eastern zone yielded 16.0 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 20462).
In 2010, an outcrop sample (RHS-Dil-02) of sediments and feldspar porphyry hosting 10- to 15-centimetre wide banded quartz veins with trace to 2 per cent pyrite from the ‘East’ zone assayed 36.39 grams per tonne gold and 10.1 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 31814). Float samples (77908) from the East zone yielded up to 27.81 grams per tonne gold and 0.135 per cent molybdenum, whereas five samples of subcrop from the Legal zone yielded from 1 to 11 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 31814).
In 1980, Barrier Reef Resources Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping and geochemical sampling (rock and soil) on the area as the Nad claims. During 1987 through 1989, programs of rock and soil sampling, prospecting and geological mapping were performed on the area as the Dil claims. In 1990, Inco Ltd. completed a program of rock and silt sampling, geological mapping and a lone trench on the area as the Knight claims. In 1991, a program of rock sampling and geological mapping was completed on the Dil claims. In 1996, a minor soil sampling program was completed on the Tante 1-8 claims. In 2010, a program of rock and soil sampling was completed on the Dil property.
